We Choose Who We Want To Be
The past few weeks I have been thinking a lot about choices in our lives that we make. We don't know what will happen after that chosen choice but we hope it is for the best for us. I don't care who you are, you want the best for yourself. We take this leap of faith everyday without even knowing it. We make choices more that we ever think about. I would have never thought those little choices led me to where I am today.
Four years ago this month, I was graduating High School. I made the choice to work hard and graduate with grades that could get me into college. I chose to do that hoping I would one day become a teacher, which I have always dreamed of. Right after high school I was able to attend BYU-Idaho. Once I got there I thought to myself, "Why did I choose to come to this school?" During the moment you have no idea why you chose it. But looking back I chose it because of the wonderful education it offers and I needed to meet the friends I did. Which led me to meeting Madison.
Madison was truly one that changed my life and she probably doesn't even know. We met our Junior Year of college. She was my roommate. We both were in the education program, same semester. She was thinking about staying three semesters in a row. I was kind of thinking the same thing. One night I was overwhelmed and I said to her, "I don't think I am going to push through another semester. I am way burned out." She pretty much told me to stuck it up and stay with her and graduate together. So I did.
During our second to last semester we were interviewed for student teaching positions. I was offered Las Vegas and Ogden. Right when I got the offer to Ogden I took it in a heartbeat. I didn't know why I needed to be in Ogden, but because of that choice I was able to stay close by to home. Not knowing I would be doing long distance with my future husband. (Which would have been terrible if I was in Vegas).
Come to find out the day after graduation I started dating my future husband. The timing was perfect. Because I chose to push through college, I was able to do student teaching early and have a job earlier and get married. Who knows what would have happened if I stayed in Rexburg another semester.
We take chances everyday. We do one thing and it turns out great. Then we do another and we just hate ourselves for that decision we made. I have had many of those. But if we keep a clear mind and a little faith and hope we will be able to receive everything we would like. I don't have it all. But because of the few choices I have made, I am who I am today.
Until next time,
Allie
