If You Attend BYUI... Be Ready For All This!
So the other day we were in class and we started laughing at things that happen everyday at BYU-Idaho. Here is just a little bit we came up with...
1. Praying. Everyone already knows this. BUT! We pray every class, every dance, every activity, and every meal. It is a great feeling to have around you all of the time. Just be prepared for praying... a lot. It creates a wonderful spirit to be around.
2. Mission Calls. Yes... your freshman year you will be hearing mission call announcements pretty much at least once a week during class. Don't know if it happens as much because of the age change... But you'll still get them at the beginning of the semester. It is fantastic!!
3. Engagements. If you haven't heard already... BYU-Idaho has a tradition of getting hitched. It's true. I have six wedding announcements on my fridge right now. But I will say this. 70% of the students here are not married. So!! You'll be just fine. ;) I made it without getting married! (Not saying that was my goal...) :)
4. I-Learn Problems. This is probably the most common thing you will run into. I-learn is always down. Always. Nuff said.
5. Winter Driving Suck!! Winter here is awful. Yes the rumors are true there is a lot of snow! Therefore. Stay away from California drivers during the months of November to March. They aren't the greatest.... Rexburg does not plow their streets... They put it all in the middle of the street every year. Which causes you to go around the block a million times to enter into a parking lot on the other side of the street.
6. Singing. There are people that will sing as they walk to class. It is really soothing as you walk up the massive hill to make it to your math class in the Ricks. Enjoy it. Even if they aren't the best.
7. Parking. Good luck. If you have a car, be ready to go Hunger Games on all. Parking on campus is no picnic. It takes skill. Become aggressive.
There is a lot more that we could say about this corky town and college. But you will have to find that out on your own. We love it here and we are sad we are leaving but we wanted to pass our knowledge onto you. You will probably also go off-roading, get stuck in the snow while drifting, and have a bonfire at least once while you are here. Enjoy your time. It's quite the experience!
Until next time,
-Allie
